The Cleveland Colectivo are doing amazing work funding grassroots groups around the city. To have them help us continue to do our work is an honor. When I saw this, I was even more honored as you should be. Please be sure to sign up for the Cleveland Colectivo’s newsletter on their website:

Meet the Bloggers Contributes to Grassroots Journalism in Cleveland

The hardest-working bloggers in Northeast Ohio have been at it again in recent months. Leading up to the March 3rd primary, Meet the Bloggers, a grassroots news source run by George Nemeth and Gloria Ferris, interviewed candidates for the 10th Congressional District and covered the health and human services levy in Cuyahoga County in addition to many other issues. More recently, they interviewed Port Authority Director Adam Wasserman.

Meet the Bloggers holds their interviews in public locations, making them accessible to all, and then posts the information on their website. Their efforts are helping to democratize the media in Northeast Ohio, disseminate information not being heard in the mainstream media, and also to educate folks about important issues. In 2007, the Cleveland Colectivo provided Meet the Bloggers with a small grant to help sponsor their website, www.meetthebloggers.net.

“We are grateful to all of you who have been blogging consistently to enhance the dialogue here in Northeast Ohio,” Gloria Ferris wrote in an email to supporters. “Many of you have illuminated issues that would not have seen the light of day, if you had not had your ear to the ground and your finger on the pulse of the community. Each and every one of you, blogger, reader and commenter has your place with citizen journalism and we appreciate you.”

Thank you to Gloria, George and other bloggers for their hard work and efforts to cover the issues in Northeast Ohio, and to provide an innovative forum for citizen-led media.
