Yellow Dog Sammy introduced Ohio House Representative Mike Foley (D-Cleveland) to a blogger bunch assembled at Talkies Friday, June 9th. YDS (a.k.a. Jeff Coryell) seems to have attracted a “market niche of state-level legislators as features at his blog, and he does a bang-up recap of our interview here, and with pictures, too (see the Mutual Admiration Society of the Two Tims as a bored Callahan looks on). Mike is the successor to Dale Miller and comes to us compliments of CTO (Cleveland Tenants Organization), where he recently served 7 years as executive director.
Lots of things came up in the conversation: Mike’s family and political ties in Montgomery County and his philosophy degree from the University of Dayton, Irishness, the Marianists and the Jesuits and a smattering of Catholic social teaching, activism, idealism, “the caveman caucus, wedge issues, dumb issues, and what’s truly important to Mike as a legislator: education, health care, [the economy], and jobs. We further delved into the 2200-job potential of the alternative-energy industry, the pig farmer with 6 windmills, blog dynamics, Plunderbund’s and FAF’s drum-beating on the Ritter nonsense, building bridges, the residency requirement, the rent strike at Columbia Park, wearing your religion on your sleeve, building consensus on state educational issues, and Jack Zen and some sort of “protracted experience.
Foley revisited his first political foray 10 years ago, in Ward 21, as a case of “I wanted to run so badly, and that’s exactly what I did. We wrapped with talk of a healthy sense of the absurd and tactical campaign tips. We were all comfortable with this guy and had a good time around the table; we’re hoping he’s one of those who will bring people together, as a community. We felt it was an hour spent well. Listen to the podcast; get to know Mike better yourself. His website is here.

Why no information on the only certified independent candidate in Ohio and the only pro-choice and truly antiwar one in the 14th District???
FYI:
More on LaTourette’s Links to Moral and Political Corruption in D.C.
In 2004, Steve LaTourette received $10,000 campaign donations from each of the following so-called leadership PACs:
1. Keep Our Majority PAC, the slush fund of House Speaker Hastert
2. Together for Our Majority PAC (TOMPAC), the slush fund of Tom Reynolds of NY
3. Rely on Your Beliefs PAC, the slush fund of Blunt of Missouri
Hastert and Reynolds are up to their eyeballs in the Foley pedophilia scandal and subsequent cover-up.
Blunt was handpicked by the crook Tom DeLay for House leadership to continue his peculiar brand of political leadership as his protégé.
This 30 grand from these morally repugnant sources is in addition to the 20 grand LaTourette took from the crooks Delay and Ney.
That’s $50,000 directly to LaTourette in just one year from the culture of corruption infesting the US Congress these dark days.
It is time for a change, a qualitative one. Declare your independence from the corruption and business as usual. Vote Lange, independent. It’s either Lange or the same old gang.
